Printable Eisenhower Matrix Template
Create a free printable Eisenhower Matrix PDF as a filled plan or customized blank template, with A4, Letter, portrait, and landscape options.
Create your matrixUse the free printable Eisenhower Matrix template to download a one-page PDF in two ways: enter tasks for a filled plan, or generate a customized blank worksheet with writing lines. Choose A4 or US Letter, portrait or landscape orientation, and a visual theme. No signup is required.
Filled PDF or blank PDF?
A filled PDF is useful when you want to:
- Print the plan you have already classified.
- Share a stable one-page snapshot for a meeting.
- Work away from a screen without rewriting tasks.
- Archive a weekly or project decision.
A blank PDF is useful when you want to:
- Brain-dump and classify by hand.
- Facilitate a workshop or coaching conversation.
- Print several copies for a recurring weekly review.
- Keep task details off the computer entirely.
You can switch between filled and blank modes without deleting your browser draft. In blank mode, choose the number of writing lines that matches your handwriting and planning scope.
Choose the right paper size
Select A4 for the standard used in most countries. Select US Letter for common printers and paper in the United States and Canada. Both options produce a single-page PDF.
Your printer can usually place either format on other paper using scaling, but matching the PDF to the paper gives more predictable margins and writing space.
Portrait or landscape?
Portrait creates a familiar upright worksheet and is convenient for folders, clipboards, and notebooks. It gives each quadrant more vertical depth.
Landscape makes each quadrant wider. Choose it for longer task descriptions, group exercises, or a desk sheet viewed beside a keyboard.
For a blank workshop template, landscape with ten or twelve lines can offer comfortable writing room. For a compact daily plan, portrait with eight lines may be enough.
Printing instructions
- Open the generator.
- Choose Filled PDF or Blank PDF.
- Select paper size, orientation, theme, and blank-line count if applicable.
- Download the PDF and open it in your normal PDF viewer.
- In the print dialog, select the matching paper size.
- Start with Actual size or 100% scale.
If your printer clips an edge because of its non-printable area, use Fit to page. Avoid very small scaling, which reduces writing space and text readability.
The ink-saver theme reduces background color for routine printing. The classic and focus themes retain stronger visual distinctions between quadrants. Always use your print preview to confirm the result for your printer.
Worked example: a weekly planning sheet
Suppose you review priorities every Monday:
- Add the three tasks with near-term consequences to Do first.
- Add two strategic outcomes to Schedule, then place them in your calendar.
- Add one request that belongs with another owner to Delegate.
- Add one commitment to decline or remove to Eliminate.
Download the filled PDF as a snapshot. Then generate a blank copy with eight lines for notes during the week. On Friday, mark what changed and use the page as input for the next review.
This rhythm prevents the template from becoming a permanent backlog. The page represents current decisions, while detailed project notes remain in the systems designed to hold them.
Privacy and browser storage
The generator creates the PDF in your browser. Your task text is not submitted to an application database, and you do not need an account, email address, or payment.
Your current draft may be saved in the browser’s local storage so a refresh does not erase it. That means someone using the same browser profile may be able to see the draft. Clear the matrix and browser storage when working on a shared or public device, and avoid entering highly sensitive information in any general-purpose planning tool.
Common template mistakes
Do not fill every available line simply because it exists. A crowded matrix hides the decision hierarchy. Keep detailed subtasks in a project list and use the page for the few choices that shape the day or week.
Do not treat the quadrant as a schedule. Important, non-urgent tasks still need dates or calendar blocks. Delegated work still needs an owner and agreed outcome. Deleted work may require a clear decline or cancellation.
If you are new to the framework, read what the four quadrants mean and the step-by-step usage guide. Otherwise, open the PDF generator and create the version you need.
